| Community Outreach Center - Free Classes
| Chicot Memorial Hosptial & UAMS Delta AHEC South's Community Outreach Center offers anyone the opportunity to work out anytime during their hours of operation! (Monday-Thursdays: 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. & Fridays: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.). Classes are as follows and ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE!!! Mondays: 10 am: Senior Fit 2-4 pm: Computer & Scrapbooking 5 pm: Hodge Podge Exercise 6:15 pm: Aerobics Tuesdays & Thursdays: 4 pm: Senior Fit 5 pm: Hodge Podge Exercise 6:15 pm: Aerobics Wednesdays: 2-4 pm: Computer & Scrapbooking 5 pm: Hodge Podge Exercise 6:15 pm: Aerobics PROGRAMS HODGE PODGE EXERCISE: This class is designed for the free spirit who likes to exercise and try something different all the time. This hour of exercise will be determined by the group using exercise videos for instruction. The Center has a variety of videos to choose from so come check them out during this hour or on your own! AEROBICS CLASS: These classes can be adapted for the beginner student to the most advanced exerciser. Our classes incorporate aerobic exercise with some light weight training. If you are ready to get in shape this year you need to check this class out!!! SENIOR FIT: This bi-weekly, free specialized fitness program for older adults is designed to enhance quality of life by increasing independence and ability to perform activities. The program includes warming-up and stretching utilizing an Arthritis Foundation approved format and strength training involving working out using special exercise bands. LUNCH & LEARN: Take a break from your busy schedule and join us at the lunch hour for a free meal and learn about different health topics. Each month we will focus on a specific topic. It is first come, first serve and you have to have a reservation. If you would like to join, please call 265-2878. HEALTH SCREENINGS: The Center provides free, monthly screenings including blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, Body Mass Index, cholesterol, pulse, and hearing tests. Specialized tests will include PSAs, bone density, depression and memory loss testing. COMPUTER CLASSES: This class is especially targeted towards seniors (and anyone else) who have little or no knowledge of the computer. Learn how to email your family members and “surf the net” as well as understand the basic uses of a computer. SCRAPBOOKING CLASSES: Learn how scrapbooking is done these days. Join classmates in documenting your life for your children and grandchildren by putting them together for memories to share forever. The class is free and some supplies are provided. Participants will be asked to their own scrapbook and pictures and we provide the rest! PROGRAMS BEGINNING IN AUGUST 2009: DELTA WEIGH PROGRAM: This free program is designed to assist men and women of the community with weight loss and weight maintenance. Groups meet weekly to record participant’s weight and provide support by group meetings. This program has been extremely successful with over a ton of pounds being lost in the community since initiating the program two years ago. UAMS Delta AHEC Director, Mellie Boagni-Watson, will provide a weekly noon class and an evening class. MEN'S HEART HEALTH INITIATIVE: This program is designed to assist the men in the community with their fitness needs. Participants will be provided with monthly health screenings, one-on-one diet counseling, and workouts. Improvement will be tracked and recorded for the participant for more info:

| Mel's Farmers' Market New Hours
| Mel's Farmers' Market has changed it's hours due to the season change. They are now open Fridays from 8-11 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. with deliveries made from 2-3 p.m. Call or fax in your order by 11 a.m. Friday for delivery. Mel's is also open the first Saturday of every month from 8-11 a.m. this when the Market hosts the Community Yard Sale. Everyone is invited to come sell their flea market items, or just come to shop. | Happening Events at Hunters Pharmacy & Christmas in Village Gift Shop
| Hunter’s Pharmacy and Christmas in the Village have fantastic events happening at both stores. Hunter’s will host Traveling Tuesdays, a day to bring in your medicines for a pharmacist drug review, and Women’s Wednesdays, in which questions regarding women’s health issues will be answered. Over at Christmas in the Village, drop in for Tailgate Thursdays and join in the fun with tasty samples and ideas for parties. The best news is Hunter’s is now offering home deliveries. The charge is only $3 within city limits and $5 out of city limits. Be sure to also check out the Village’s napkin sales on September 9 and 23. It’s buy 3 and get 1 free! | Experience the natural beauty of the largest oxbow lake in North America through an exciting array of recreational and interpretive opportunities. Journey deep into the cypress swamp on a barge or kayak tour, bask in the beauty of a sunset on the lake, enjoy an afternoon of birding in the Mississippi Flyway, hunt for geocaches, and delve into the rich heritage of the Delta. November 6th – November 28th Birding Lake Tours Take a guided bird watching tour into the cypress swamp and surrounding area to spot some of Arkansas’s winter migrates. Don’t miss your opportunity to see some of Arkansas’s best waterfowl. Tours are offered most Thursdays through Saturdays. Reservations are required and can be made at the visitor center. Tours start at variable times; there is a fee. December 12th Annual Race for the Cache Join fellow geocache hunters in this race for the prize geocache. Participants will receive clues to various geocaches all leading up to the grand prize cache. Do you have what it takes to find all the geocaches? While this race is free, you may have to rent a kayak or a bicycle to find some of the caches. for more info:

| Christmas Parade & Celebration!
| The Chamber's annual Christmas Parade and Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 12 beginning at 1 p.m. Join in the fun as marching bands, drill teams, beauty queens, riding clubs, clowns and floats make their way up Main Street, with Santa Claus and his elves topping it all off!!! Afterwards, kids can have their picture taken free with Santa and the Chamber will serve hot dogs and drinks to the community. for more info:
